About me, my love for images, and daring to share my own world.
Sometimes something grows very slowly inside you, without you knowing exactly what it will become. That's how Colored Angels came into being. No strict plan, no straight line. More like a feeling that became increasingly clear: I want to share my own world. A world full of color, contrast, vulnerability, strength. A place where imagination and feeling converge.
I've always been someone who sees with the heart. Images evoke emotions in me—an old piece of lace, a row of sequins on velvet, a yellowed painting, or a scene from a costume drama. I feel something there that's hard to explain, but it moves me. I wanted to capture that feeling, make it tangible. I always jokingly say, "I was born in the wrong era :-)"
From a young age, I was fascinated by fairy tales, historical clothing, and angel wings (not as a religious image, but as a symbol of freedom, beauty, gentleness, and strength). I lost myself in shows like The Gilded Age , Sissi, and Bridgerton , but also the more edgy ones like The Vikings or The Last Kingdom . The atmosphere, the colors, the materials, the costumes—everything spoke to me. Later, I also discovered the world of Haute Couture, Dior, McQueen, and Galliano, and how they translate stories into form and texture. That touched me deeply.
At the same time, I'm a mother of three. For a long time, motherhood was my oyster, especially as a single mom. Caring for them took precedence over everything else. Creativity remained a low-key activity during those years, but it didn't get much attention. Now that my children are growing up and going their own way, I'm slowly finding the time and courage to pursue my dream. Colored Angels is one such dream.
The name Colored Angels came intuitively, but it felt right immediately. For me, it represents the combination of lightness and strength, of vulnerability and color. In my work, angel wings don't symbolize religion or anything vague, but rather freedom, protection, and something that transcends the ordinary. And the word "Colored" stands for life, intensity, emotion, for everything that moves me. I love color, but also contrast and black and white, bright and dark, rough and soft. I feel at home in these contrasts. So Colored Angels isn't just a name, but a visual language that tells exactly who I am and what I create.
My work is intuitive. I paint, combine images, work partly analog and partly digital, and often use AI to add new layers. What I create is sometimes dreamy, sometimes raw, but always sincere. Not polished, but with feeling.
This blog is a first step toward revealing more about myself. Not just what I make, but also why. What moves me, where my inspiration comes from, how a collection is created, or how I'm sometimes suddenly moved by an image or a material.
Perhaps you recognize something in it. Perhaps it will bring you back to your own sense of wonder.
Anyway: Glad you're reading this!
